DOMESTIC VIOLENCE - MYTHS AND TRUTH

Updated: Dec 30, 2025

I’m not going to argue that physical violence against women by men isn't a serious issue. But let’s not forget that women can be just as controlling, abusive, and violent as men. The numbers are skewed because men refuse to admit that they can be victims of female partners, especially since they’re often less physically strong.

One area where women seem to dominate is in parental alienation, which often goes hand-in-hand with domestic violence and coercive behaviour.

While on my own journey, I realised that for men, there wasn’t much help available, whether it was in-person or written form. Writing my book, ‘One in Seven?’, was cathartic, but it also allowed me to share my story with someone, even if it was just myself. But I’ve come to realise that it’s important to share our experiences with others, both men and women who have gone through or are going through similar anguish and pain. I hope to help them feel less alone and realise that they’re not the only ones in this dark space.

My experiences might even lead to some new ideas or even some paths we shouldn’t take. I also want to challenge the myths about domestic abuse and parental alienation that are spread by radical feminist groups and barristers.

If you’re going through this struggle, know that you’re not alone. It might have been too late for me, but there are now resources, professionals, and communities ready to support you. And most importantly, your love for your children and your determination matter. They can make a difference.

I want to keep the conversation going. By sharing our stories and insights, we can shed light on this often-hidden pain. Together, we can challenge the silence and build a future where every parent and child has the chance to heal and thrive in safe environments.
